"GIG" Alert 01-20-2013

Inline image 1

Week in WRAP
Two years in the making and RSQAURED continues to change the world, one tune at a time!

Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to join us Friday night! We had our largest group to date at the Christian Center, largest group of musicians, and we took up the entire middle section of Culvers! In February of 2011, the first picture of Noah and I was taken at Culvers. Never would we have dreamed that in two years, we would have a group of 29 people taking up the entire corner of the restaurant for a picture (check out the attached photo!). God has blessed us in so many ways, and we are eager to see what He has in store for RSQAURED's future.

With 2013 here, we are ready to rock and roll with some new ideas. The first is our NEW t-shirt design! Please check out the attached picture of it on our cake (which was delicious)! The shirts will still be lime green with our symbols and lightning bolt on the back, but the front design will change. Please take the time to check out our t-shirt PAGE and watch the YouTube video that helped inspire the design. On that page is also a description of why we have a group t-shirt and pass them out for free.

Within these next few weeks, we hope to plan a fundraiser that will help kick-start some exciting new ideas! So much has been happening lately, and I cannot wait to share with you how God continues to surprise and bless this group!

Until then, have a so GOOD you can HARDLY stand it week!

-Tim

"GIG" Alert 01/13/2013

Inline image 1

Week in WRAP: January 13th, 2013
A few weeks have passed since the last RSQUARED "GIG" Alert! School finals and the holidays took over, but we are back in action and have some amazing stories to share with you!

1. RSQAURED 2 Year Anniversary!
Two years and one day ago on January 14th, 2011 RSQAURED was founded! It is hard to believe that everything started with Noah and I "randomly" playing our saxophones at Culver's in East Peoria. With an attitude to change the world one tune at a time, we did our best to make things "right" and continued to spread our passion for music. Within a few months we expanded to the Christian Center and were inviting our friends. By the end of the year, we had a few saxograms under our belt, hosted our first fundraiser, and have not stopped moving forward since! God has blessed us in so, so many ways and we want to celebrate this Friday, January 18th with a "classic" RSQAURED night. We will be going to the Christian Center for bowling then to Culver's after for ice-cream. The invitation is open to everyone!! In addition, we have a surprise for all in attendance...that evening we will be unveiling the NEW RSQAURED t-shirt design on a custom cake, yes I said cake! So even if you do not like bowling, come for a slice of delicious cake!

2. Christmas Caroling
On December 21st, RSQAURED held our end of the year Christmas Celebration. We had over 20 people join us for a night of fresh hot-chocolate, apples to apples, the "cups" game, homemade chili and cookies, and most importantly an RSQAURED first...Christmas Caroling! Bundled up in winter jackets, hats, gloves, (hand warmers for the lucky ones), we went from house to house spreading the Christmas Spirit!

*See the attached picture of our group at a neighbor's house!

3. The Website
If you have not visited the RSQAURED website lately, you need to make a visit. Our graphic designer, Tyler Neyens, has been hard at work updating the pages and making our site one-of-a-kind! I would especially recommend the history page. With the two year anniversary tomorrow, you can look back all the way to January 14th, 2011 and watch how we have evolved!

Have a SUPER fantastic week everyone and we hope to see you Friday!!!

Tim

"GIG" Alert 11-25-2012

11-25-2012:  Week in
WRAP
Christmas songs were sung, many delicious pizzas were eaten, pictures were taken with a jolly Santa, and a beautiful Christmas tree was decorated. On Friday, November 23rd, a community came together for a special little girl named Adrianna. We are so, so happy to share with everyone that we raised a total of $1600!!! We cannot say thank you enough for all the prayers and support! A HUGE thanks goes out to the Mud Puddle Brick Oven Pizza in East Peoria, Mrs. Watson's second grade class (made over 50 ornaments), Scott Lauss (Santa), Cole Smith (donated Adrianna's tree), Teresa Lemkemann (face painting), Pete Driscoll and the EPCHS Chorus, Jeff Mosher and the Elite Drumline, Natalie Chapman (sang Amazing Grace), members of RSQAURED, our families, friends, and ALL of our supporters! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Please see the attached picture of Adrianna, Santa, and the RSQAURED volunteers! I have also attached the picture of Adrianna putting her angel on top of the Christmas tree.

One more exciting thing happened tonight! The RSQAURED Facebook page has reached over 100 likes!!! Our weekly "GIG" Alert and Facebook really help us stay in contact with our followers and supporters. If you have not yet liked us on Facebook, check out our page HERE. Once there, you can also find more pictures from Light the Night.

Have a SUPER fantastic start to your week everyone! The holiday season is upon us :)

Week in WRAP
Happy Monday everyone! Wow, Light the Night is less than a week away! We are so, so excited to see what God has planned for the evening.

Again, we want to open up the invitation to everyone! There will be something for all ages to enjoy from pictures with Santa, live music, face painting, fresh pizza hot out of the brick oven, a bunch of green RSQAURED shirts, but most importantly, you can help make this an unforgettable night for Adrianna. I spoke with Adrianna's mom today and she said Adrianna was so excited for Friday that she asked if they could go out and buy a dress (she picked out a black and white one!) If you are able to attend Friday, be sure to stay until 8:00PM. At that time, the Christmas tree that everyone decorated throughout the night will be dedicated to Adrianna and her family. One lucky person will have the chance to help Adrianna put her angel on top of the tree!
Most importantly, we want this to be a night where Adrianna has the spotlight, where she is taken away from the hospital and doctors and nurses, where she can be immersed in a community that shows endless love and support for her! Help us make Light the Night a dream come true for Adrianna. Have a SUPER fantastic week everyone and a blessed Thanksgiving. See you Friday!

-Tim

1. Recent News
So many exciting things have been happening in the realm of RSQAURED lately! First, I want to share with everyone a story about the attached picture. In the photo, you will see Bill and his grandson Brandon wearing our green RSQAURED shirt. If any of you have one of our shirts, you will notice a signature on the front at the bottom of the "R." That signature belongs to Brandon, and he is the master mind behind the design of our shirt. This past Friday, Brandon finally received his first shirt, and by the smile on his face I think he liked the design :)

2. Light the Night for Adrianna
Much has also been happening with Light the Night! God has blessed us in so many ways these past few weeks and I need to share a few of the stories.

First of all, two weeks ago I was in class and received a call from Adrianna's mom. She told me that the East Peoria Courier called her and was looking for my phone number because they wanted to do a story on Light the Night. Still to this day, I do not know how they found out about the event, but I have a feeling the Lord was at work. Please check out the article by clicking HERE

We have also been hard at work trying to find a Santa. I have been asking all of my family, friends, co-workers, classmates, and everyone in search of a Santa! This week, Noah and I became desperate and made a jaunt down to Bass Pro. I knew they had the "North Pole" set up in their store, so I wanted to see if their Santa would be available for us. Turns out, they rent their Santa from Michigan and he sleeps in an RV in the parking lot through all of December. Instead, the manager gave me the name of a guy she remembered from years ago that might be around. That night, Noah and I found his work number online and I called only to leave a voice mail. I never heard back from him again until this Saturday when I received a call from an unknown number. The caller was our Santa! I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone talking with him about the Gospel and how dressing up as Santa has brought him closer to God. While on the phone, I felt like I was truly talking with Santa Claus. I know God was at work in this situation, and cannot wait to see what else He has planned for Light the Night.

Have a blessed week everyone!

-Tim

Pumpkin Carving

This past Friday marks the FIRST ever RSQAURED night of pumpkin carving. We kicked off the evening by taking our caravan of vehicles down to the Smith Farm in East Peoria. After picking out our pumpkins (ranging in all sizes from less than a pound to over 100 pounds!), we went to our friend Corrie Faye's house to begin carving. We are so blessed to have met the Fayes because they agreed to host all of us for the night. Now when I say host, that is an understatement...because of the rain, we had to carve inside and the Faye's let us take over their dining room, dining room table, and kitchen! They even made us freshly baked pumpkins seeds (so delicious!). Check out the attached picture of the group and our carved pumpkins!

Methodist Service League Christmas Gift Show
If you need plans for Saturday, November 3rd, come join RSQAURED from 9:00AM-2:00PM at the Methodist Atrium building in Peoria for the 62nd Annual Service League Gift Show! We will be playing Christmas tunes for the Service League vendors and shoppers to help kick-off the holiday season. There will be fresh homemade goods, handmade items (such as decorations, trinkets, and other neat stuff), clothing, and plenty of smiles to go around! We hope to see you there!

Light the Night
for Adrianna
RSQAURED's favorite time of the year is during the holidays. Last year was our first time hosting an event called Light the Night. Our mission for Light the Night is to find one person from our community and make it their very own SPECIAL night! Last year we honored Sophie Schneblin and helped her raise $250 for the Arthritis Foundation. This year, we will be hosting Light the Night in honor of Adrianna Brown. Adrianna is a second grader from East Peoria who has been diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). She is a ST Jude patient and is still undergoing treatment.

Thanks to Evan and Jeff Hickerson, Light the Night will be hosted at the Mud Puddle Brick Oven on Friday, November 23rd from 5:00PM-8:30PM. We are still in the planning process, but we do know the night will be full of delicious pizza hot from the brick oven, dozens and dozens of delectable cookies, live Christmas music (bands a singers will be announced soon), and a visit from Santa Claus!
We want this to be an evening where Adrianna can forget about leukemia, the hospital, doctors, nurses, and medicine. Instead, she will feel surrounded by a community of people who love, care, and support her! The more people we have attend, the more people there will be to help us Light the Night for Adrianna and make this an evening she will truly remember for a lifetime.

How can you get involved??
Simple...we are opening the invitation up to everyone and need your help to spread the word! This week, I attached our flyer for the event. On the flyer is Adrianna's picture and information about Light the Night. We invite you to print out the flyer and share it with everyone (friends, family, co-workers, classmates)! Any questions, comments, or ideas please let us know!

Week in WRAP
School, high school football games, band competitions, have all been keeping RSQAURED quite busy these past few weeks! Although we have been busy, our group found a day to visit the Peoria Heights Tower Park. In addition, RSQAURED's favorite time of the year is approaching, the holiday season, and we have already started planning a few exciting events!

To begin with Tower Park, on Friday September 28th, we journeyed to Peoria Heights for an awesome view, frozen yogurt from Sweet Cece's, and some amazing fellowship time. As a group, we went up the Heights Tower which stands 200 feet above ground! We had a breathtaking view of Peoria and front row seats to the best sunset in town. Please see the attached picture of our group (the sky background is beautiful!). A night with RSQAURED is never complete without some "form" of ice-cream, so we topped off the evening with Sweet Cece's Frozen Yogurt...Mmmmm!

As I said, RSQAURED's favorite time of the year is during the holidays. Last year was our first time hosting an event called Light the Night. If you have any questions about Light the Night, would like to be more involved, or have an idea to share, please call me (Tim Brown) at 309-369-4025.

I hope everyone has a super, SUPER fantastic week!
